“Women, modesty means you have beauty and power. And you use that to teach men how to love you for the right reasons.” – Jason Evert

Inspiring Chivalry is one of the duties of women. Along with the rest of the beautiful purposes God has created us for, Inspiring Chivalry is one of them.

When I think chivalry, I think of a young knight in shining armor, waiting patiently while his Lady affixes her sash about his arm. Or of a young knight in action, defending her bravely, sword in hand.

Sadly, there aren’t many of those left today. And I am not being sarcastic. “Sure”, you may say, “of course there aren’t any knights left!” But I am dead serious.

One of the reasons that there aren’t many knights left is because women descended to a level they ought not to have. They lowered their standards, lost their respect for themselves and for decency, and failed to hold men to the morals and standards that are what is right.

But that doesn’t mean that they are gone, and will never return! Far from it! It is up to us girls to bring them back.

And if you think that’s impossible, I have news for you!

I recently read an article about men’s brains. The article explained that when a man saw an immodestly dressed woman, the using part of his brain lit up. But when seeing a modestly dressed woman, he thought of her as being in control of her own actions as opposed to being used, That sounds better than the first, right?

My Great Grandma told a story about when she and her daughter went shopping one day. She was wearing a dress; her daughter was not. Upon seeing her, a man promptly opened the door for my Great Grandmother, but let it go in her daughter’s face! Shocked, the daughter commented on his seemingly rude behavior.  My grandma responded that it was because she was wearing a dress, and the man didn’t recognize the daughter as a girl!

This example shows that being feminine brings out a chivalrous streak in men that dressing otherwise won’t!

So, if wearing feminine clothes helps men be chivalrous, and dressing modestly makes men more respectful of women, what are we waiting for?

Let’s go bring back those knights in shining armor. We can do it!

St. Joseph, pray for us!
